This was our third winter at Seabrook Island and our second stay at 550 Tarpon Pond. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in our comfortable and attractively decorated cottage. The two of us and our dog settled in quickly and felt quite at home during our 7 week stay. The cottage is located on the corner of a small cul-de-sac with another cottage behind it and a cottage on one side of it. When there were neighbors staying there it still remained quiet. The people on the island are very friendly and welcoming. The screened porch is a good size with a few chairs and a table for 6. Unfortunately, it wasn't warm enough to spend much time out there. We used the large gas grill on the front porch a lot. Most everything we needed was provided. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. There were bikes to ride and lots of beach towels to use. There are 3 television sets. Only 2 have cable. The other one is only for playing games or watching movies. The air conditioning/heating unit is outside the master bedroom and tended to be noisy when it turned on or off. But we got used to it and didn't have any problem sleeping. The beach is about a 10 minute bike ride from the cottage. It's a bit far to walk as you aren't allowed to take shortcuts across the golf courses at any time. On many days , at the cottage, you can hear the waves crashing at the beach. The island is a great place to bring your dog to as it's a “dog friendly” island. We liked seeing the egrets and roseate spoonbills in the trees, the deer wandering past the cottage, and dolphins at the beach. We enjoyed working with the ladies at Coastal Getaways. They are quick to answer questions and to provide help when needed. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to returning next winter.
