A lot of beach destinations are noisy & packed with people – Seabrook was not like that – it was quiet, calm & beautiful. Close enough to Charleston if you want lots of activities and hustle & bustle though, so perfect vacation destination. Loved the Seabrook vibe. I wanted something quiet and peaceful but still with things for my grown kids who were with me to do and this was exactly that My adult kids loved the Pelican’s nest, the pool, the bar at the pool. I loved the set up near the pool where the beach loungers, umbrellas & tables were set up already for the guest to be able to hang out on the beach. We didn’t have the space to pack beach chairs, etc. so it was wonderful to have that all provided. I don’t know, this was our first time here and we did not have time to utilize all the amenities that were provided, so I can’t make any recommendations on anything that might be missing or needs improving as far as the island amenities. I hope to come back again and make use of some of the things offered we didn’t get to squeeze into our schedule. I enjoyed everything on Seabrook Island. We have already had a family discussion about coming back again next year. I enjoyed everything on Seabrook Island. We have already had a family discussion about coming back again next year. Not really something I needed to know in advance, but once I got there, I initially could not find the washer & dryer – I had no idea the laundry facilities were outside. I just thought the area under the porch was storage and would have never looked there – my son actually found it. Maybe put a note in the property binder that the laundry is outside under the house. Liquid Hand Soap – with the current pandemic I would have never dreamed there would not be any soap there. After traveling all day we arrived and could not even wash our hands – the listing had said to bring extra dishwashing tabs, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent – which I brought all those things as well as extra towels, and some cleaning supplies but I never thought to bring hand soap as I just assumed there would be some. Very inexpensive item to provide and makes life so much easier for the vacationers when they arrive. We had to go back out immediately after arriving as we couldn’t even use the bathroom since we could not wash our hands. I left what we had left over for the next guest as well as some Dawn dish soap Had some maintenance issues at this specific property – upon arrival I could not get the master bedroom light or ceiling fan to come on, it was labor day weekend and there were couple of lamps in the room, so I didn’t want to bother anyone over the weekend so I just made do. I would have changed the light bulbs myself but couldn’t locate any in the house for that fixture. The stick to open and close the blinds was missing in that room as well so I had to get my son to hand turn the little knob (I was too short to reach it) to close the blinds and I didn’t want to keep bothering him to open and shut them for me so I just kept them closed the whole time, which made it super dark in the bedroom with the overhead light out too. The knob to the hot water faucet in the guest bathtub/shower came off in my sons hand when he went to turn water off after taking a shower on wed night. Again – didn’t want to bother maintenance because it was late at night but hot water was running with no way to turn it off so he got his swiss army knife and finally was able to manually get it turned off but then of course we couldn’t use the shower again as we had no way to turn hot water back on. I did have to call maintenance to come fix the next day as we could not manage 5 people trying to use the tiny shower in the master bath (maintenance did come and did a temporary fix so we could use the shower but not the tub). Also, the dishwasher has issues as well. I ran it twice while there and I spent forever trying to get it on. I just replaced an older model similar to that one, so it’s not that I didn’t know how to run it. The door doesn’t want to catch good, then there must be some kind of short because if you do finally get the door to fasten completely, it doesn’t want to start. The light will come on and then blink and eventually just go off without starting. Both times I ran it, it took me over 30 mins to get it to start and it just seemed to be a fluke that it started. I didn’t do anything different when I closed the door and pushed the buttons the time it started than the other 100 times I tried. The hinge on the dish washer door is broken as well so you can’t leave the door propped open and let the dishes air dry either. Just minor inconveniences, but not really something you want to deal with when you are paying to stay somewhere for vacation. Any other comments or suggestions? Even with the map, being my first time here I had difficulty figuring out easiest way to get to beach, and way around the island, especially if I wanted to walk/ride bike instead of drive. Maybe add some individualized destination maps to the main attractions (pools, beach) for the rental properties from their specific location to the destination.
