Property: LITTLE TUSCANY HOLIDAY HOUSE Bottom line: do NOT rent during summer months. My friends and I have been going to Palm Springs over 4th of July weekend for over a decade. NEVER have we been so uncomfortable as we were in this house. For starters, the central air-conditioning was never able to cool the house off below 84 degrees, even overnight, and even after ACME sent someone (who did absolutely everything he could including bringing us a handful of box fans) to service the unit. For what it’s worth, temps in PS did hit record highs (124), but we visited plenty of other establishments that had no issues with cooling. Additionally, the European-style wall unit in the casita had zero issues cooling that space. The central AC needs to be replaced and measures need to be taken (for example, hanging black-out curtains instead of sheer ones) to *assist* the AC instead of making cooling the house an impossible task. There were warnings of this in the house manual, which means ACME was already aware of the issue. However we were not provided the house manual until we had already paid for the rental. Again, in the 10+ years we’ve been coming to Palm Springs we’ve never had an issue like this where the house simply would not cool down. This house should not be available to rent during the summer until this is resolved. I am personally 7.5 months pregnant and at one point my friends banished me to the casita - even with two ice packs on my body I became so flushed/overheated that they wouldn’t let me sit in the living room anymore. (They eventually joined me in there.) Equally as frustrating was how hot the pool was: 91 degrees. That is not a pool, that is a bathtub/hottub. It was not refreshing, and I was honestly concerned about spending time in the pool, as pregnant women are not supposed to take hot baths/be in hot tubs. This just reinforces that this is not a property that should be rented out during the summer unless this is somehow addressed. Finally, wasps kept coming in through the bathroom fans in the main house. Each time we would remove them using the hand vacuum and release them outside. We did make ACME aware of this issue and hopefully it is being addressed following our stay. All this said, the property is gorgeous, well equipped, and would theoretically be a superb choice for non-summer months.
