Beautiful views from the mountain ridge! You can’t find a more peaceful location. The house has plenty of space for a large party but if a “party” if what you’re looking for this isn’t the spot for you. Neighbors request quiet renters which worked great for us but something to know since the house does sleep a lot of people! We enjoyed our quiet family time and sitting on the deck looking at the views and the stars at night.

I can imagine this is a 5-star winter home, but in the summer it felt more like a 4-star stay. The layout is fantastic, with each bedroom in its own wing, providing privacy & space. The hot tub, pool table, incredible views, & secluded location created an environment we genuinely enjoyed. The host was responsive & addressed a few issues during our stay.
The biggest challenge was the summer heat. The listing accurately states there is no AC, so we expected to cool the home by opening windows in the evenings & using the ceiling fans. However, the large windows that showcase the views also cause the home to heat up during the day & stay hot at night. The high ceiling fans didn't provide much air circulation, & many windows lack screens, limiting cooling options.
As others have noted, the floors quickly turned the bottoms of our feet black. Overall, we had a great stay & the location, privacy, views & layout outweighed the negatives. With better circulation and TLC this could be a 5 star.

An incredible mountain property! The Grand Vista Lodge completely exceeded our expectations. The house is huge, beautifully designed, and features some of the best mountain views you can find in Tahoe Donner. We woke up early at 5:30am just to enjoy the pristine sunrise. The main living room does get a bit warm and some shades and curtains would have helped but we receded downstairs during those times. The high-end kitchen made cooking for a group incredibly easy, and the downstairs entertainment area with the pool table was a huge hit. Clean, comfortable, and managed perfectly. We’d love to come back!

The view was stunning. A bit tucked up the mountain but worth it for the privacy, views, and access to the Tahoe-Donner amenities.

Really great rental and management company was easy to get a hold of and responsive to questions. Definitely looking to come back.
Note to other parents: the house didn’t have any pack-n-plays or high chairs (as of March 2026) so make sure to bring your own.
