Such a fabulous location, property and home. We mountain biked the Tahoe Rim Trail and The Flume Trail from here and it could not have been easier. Thank you for the large, clean and empty garage. Plenty of room for out bikes and tuning station. Our three families can't wait to come back and enjoy our booking for skiing this winter. We look forward to being just down the street from the Tahoe Donner X-country Center and the easy drive to Palisades/Squaw/Alpine. Five highlights for our group: The modern, large, immaculate kitchen and group dining area, THE DECK!!! Wow! the large game room, the wood stove and double living room area, and plenty of rooms and beds for our families to spread out. Thanks for setting it up so nicely and being willing to rent it out.

We loved this home. It's not too far up the mountain, so access is easy including a flat driveway right up to the front door for the winter. Beautiful inside and out. Brand new modern and fully equipped kitchen. Lots of common space for adults and separate space for kids. Beautiful deck for summer BBQ and meals. Clean and fresh house. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Beautiful vacation house in the middle of a beautiful forest. The deck puts you among the trees where you can hear the wind blow and watch the tree tops sway. The workmanship in the house is a thing of beauty. We WILL be back.

We had an incredible time here. The location is perfect, the house was clean and had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and we loved spending time on the deck in the mornings and evenings. The kids never wanted to leave the loft which made it feel like even more of a quiet vacation for the adults. We’ll definitely be back.

Our 3-generation family (ages 2 to 78) enjoyed a six-night stay at Shady Pines in July and we had plenty of room for everybody! The huge deck and the upstairs playroom/loft, as well as the open-plan dining room and two-level living room, make it easy to spread out comfortably. After full days at the lake, pool, golf course, or trails, we enjoyed relaxed dinners on the deck, often followed by music in the living room or ping pong and legos in the loft. Everything about this mountain retreat is perfect. It's conveniently located making it easy to take advantage of the many TahoeDonner amenities as well as go into town. We also took side trips to Lake Tahoe and to the the water park near Reno. Both easy. The kitchen is clean, modern, large and well-equipped -- perfect for making meals at home and feeding hungry kids at all times of day. The beds are really comfortable and the closet space is ample. The ceiling fans are a bonus. Bathroom towels are plush, not something you typically get in a rental house. The washer and dryer are excellent. The furnishings and decor are upscale and inviting, creating a welcome vibe that reflects the artistic sensibility of the owners. Worth noting are the lovely photographs throughout the house. These images artfully capture the beauty of the Sierra in all seasons -- which only makes me want to come back and enjoy the amenities of this lovely home winter, spring, summer and fall!

I am a Truckee resident and have booked this house twice, once for extended family attending my wedding and then again for a single family visiting me. Starting with location... Tahoe Donner, where this house is located is sweet, with great amenities. This house wins the Tahoe Donner location lottery because it can be reached by Northwoods Boulevard, the go-to, OR by Alder Creek Road, which is what the locals use. The Alder Creek road does not have traffic jams EVER and is a very scenic shortcut to 89 which takes you to Northstar Ski resort. Believe me when I say close proximity to Alder Creek Road saves you hours of drive time in the winter. I love the layout of this house. The kitchen is right off the dining room and a cozy sitting area, which is perfect for socializing while putting together meals, and the floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the huge deck and beyond lets in a ton of sunlight. On the food note, Z Market is about a ten minute drive from the property and is known in Truckee-Tahoe as offering a wonderful wine selection. Good gourmet items as well. The separate "rumpus" room for ping pong, video games is sound proof and great for the kids, unlike those weird two living room set-ups where you can hear each others' tv's and dialogue. This house is large, but cozy -- not a McMansion that looks and feels out of place. It feels like it belongs in the mountains. Sauna was enjoyed after skiing. I'd book it a third time!
