Our 3-generation family (ages 2 to 78) enjoyed a six-night stay at Shady Pines in July and we had plenty of room for everybody! The huge deck and the upstairs playroom/loft, as well as the open-plan dining room and two-level living room, make it easy to spread out comfortably. After full days at the lake, pool, golf course, or trails, we enjoyed relaxed dinners on the deck, often followed by music in the living room or ping pong and legos in the loft. Everything about this mountain retreat is perfect. It's conveniently located making it easy to take advantage of the many TahoeDonner amenities as well as go into town. We also took side trips to Lake Tahoe and to the the water park near Reno. Both easy. The kitchen is clean, modern, large and well-equipped -- perfect for making meals at home and feeding hungry kids at all times of day. The beds are really comfortable and the closet space is ample. The ceiling fans are a bonus. Bathroom towels are plush, not something you typically get in a rental house. The washer and dryer are excellent. The furnishings and decor are upscale and inviting, creating a welcome vibe that reflects the artistic sensibility of the owners. Worth noting are the lovely photographs throughout the house. These images artfully capture the beauty of the Sierra in all seasons -- which only makes me want to come back and enjoy the amenities of this lovely home winter, spring, summer and fall!
