What looked like a cute little cottage was deceptively large inside, very clean, and nicely appointed, ample kitchenware and linens. The back yard is also surprisingly large, and an absolute peaceful oasis for people, birds, and bunnies. Our dog loved chilling out there.
Location was stellar, half-mile walk to the beach past a beautiful marsh, and the sunsets were a highlight of our trip.
Communication with NEVR was great, easy peasy. We partook of a nice discount they offered to a whale watch (LOTS of whales!).
Three quirky things to mention if you choose the Richard’s Rd cottage:
1. The electronic sign-in pad on the front door is very hard to see in direct sunlight, so it took us a minute to put the code in first time. Cup your hand over it to shade it.
2. The valves for the outdoor shower are behind a wood panel inside in the bathroom. Turn parallel to the pipe to ensure water flow. We turned them off after use just because that’s how they were at check-in, but maybe they’re left open all summer.
3. The power went off in the bathroom at one point. There’s a reset on the outlet next to the mirror, push and hold and it should reset (might take a couple tries).
All in all, highly recommend this spot as a home-away-from-home setting. For the same price as a hotel room, you get a whole house, deck, back yard, outdoor shower, etc. and a quiet setting. I’d happily stay there again, though I might check out other NEVR properties since this one was so good.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful review, Finbarr. We’re glad the cottage exceeded expectations, was clean and well-appointed, and that the yard, sunsets, and location made the trip special! And that your dog enjoyed the space too. Great to hear the whale watch was a hit.
We appreciate the detailed notes about the keypad, outdoor shower valves, and the bathroom outlet. I’ll pass those to our maintenance and housekeeping teams so we can add clearer instructions and check the hardware (we’ll look at shading/visibility for the pad, label the shower valves, and inspect the outlet/reset). Thanks for calling those out!
We’d love to host you again and are happy to help you find another NEVR property next time.
Thanks,
