In the 10+ years we have been visiting the Big Island, we have always stayed in Kanaloa at Keauhou. On the more southern side of the western shore, we feel it is ideally located—far enough away from the more congested areas of Kailua Kona to feel a relaxed slower pace, but still just minutes away up Ali’i Drive to access the best in dining and nightlife. There are plenty of scenic routes for our morning walks, ocean recreation opportunities are close by in Keauhou Bay, and there are plenty of restaurants and stores just 5 minutes up the hill. The Captain Cook area is nearby as is the road to Kilauea and Hilo.
The Kanaloa at Keauhou complex includes a number of visitor perks—three swimming pools including the Ocean Pool next to the breaking waves, tennis and pickleball courts, community barbeque grills, and a community center. There has been a noticeable upgrade in the complex in recent years—new paving, updated landscaping, pool houses and bathrooms, etc. The management and maintenance crew are certainly on top of things.
We have stayed in Kanaloa #804 the last two years. For the two of us itis ideal, though it could probably accommodate a group of four reasonably comfortably. It is newly renovated, with up-to-date, comfortable, and practical furnishings. It is well outfitted—there is nothing we wanted that wasn’t there. It is located just steps away from one of the pools, the “Quiet Pool” as well as the tennis and pickleball courts. The larger of its two lanais looks to the east, over the golf course. While not an ocean view, it is also not subject to afternoon heat that western facing units can be. The large lanai is an ideal spot for breakfast, and afternoon snacks and cocktails after an active day. Unit 804 has two air conditioning units and plenty of ceiling fans so we could be comfortable day and night.
We highly recommend both the Kanaloa at Keauhou complex and Condo # 804.
Aloha Chris,
Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts on your recent stay with us at Kanaloa at Keauhou 804. We are happy to hear you had a wonderful time in the home and on the island. We agree, the complex is a beautiful place to stay where you are close to town amenities but still get the relaxing feel of being further away in a quieter area. The complex improvements are a wonderful way to enjoy a Big Island stay and the condo, itself, is beautiful and well appointed. We enjoyed hosting you folks and hope to welcome you back should you find yourselves returning to Big Island for future stays!
Mahalo,
