We just loved that you could walk down to town every morning for coffee. The house is great.

The Orchid Hale is as beautiful as the photos indicate, and then some! What an extraordinary view (and sunsets from the balcony!), gorgeous landscape, and beautiful home-- our favorite vacation rental ever! (And we've been to the BI a lot.) Words can't describe the serenity and peacefulness of staying "up mauka," and we reveled in the (mostly) quiet and solitude. (Didn't even see the houses next door and above until the end of our stay!) The coqui frogs at night were actually melodic and lulled me to sleep, and while the roosters and wild turkeys were pretty vocal in the morning, they were much more tolerable than the constant traffic noises and chatter on Ali'i Drive. The drives to town really weren't bad (the Belt road is far less crowded than the highways, and is easy access for destinations both north and south of town). The house itself was beautifully decorated (loved all the hardwood and vaulted ceilings as well!), and the beds were very comfortable. More than enough room for our family of six (including two kids) to spread out and also have some privacy. The home was very well stocked with dishes, toiletries and supplies, and we made ample use of the boogie boards and snorkel gear (adult sizes). We loved the extravagent treats in the gift basket too, and the concierge was a welcome luxury we weren't expecting for the very reasonable price. (Way better than other homes in Kona and Keauhou.) Finally, big mahalos to Kona Coast Vacations for their attentiveness and help throughout. They resolved a water heater issue very promptly, though it was during the holidays. We hope to come back soon, and highly recommend this hidden gem!

The home was just like the pictures. Kitchen was well equiped and the BBQ was also great.

Beautiful grounds, the house was very nice. Being up high over the ocean was a lot cooler comfortable to sleep. Only thing I didn’t care for was the screened in main sitting area where it somewhat obstructed clearer views for picture taking.

This house made the perfect landing spot for our group with the space and comfort for 10 days to relax and cook a few meals at “home”. Mornings were amazing as we often took the short walk to the coffee cart and cafe for our morning brown butter miso latte! It rains a lot which means it’s much cooler here which made the stay much more comfortable in my opinion but you can get in the car and find the sun at a beach just a couple miles away.

This was the perfect house for our family. We came to the big island for a family wedding which the venue was conveniently located right down the road. We enjoyed the grounds of the house and the hosts were very responsive to needs/requests. We were so appreciative of the snorkeling gear, beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs and beach umbrella that we had access to while we stayed. Wonderful property!
