We were a party of six adults vacationing on the Big Island to celebrate my retirement. From landing in Kona, to getting our rental car to settling into Hale Honu, we had a smooth and wo derful trip. The instructions for entering the house were easy and without complication. The garage door opener didn't work...batteries? We ended up figuring out a routine that worked just fine for us. The first floor didn't disappoint- the views were stunning. We saw wales, dolphin and great schools of fish. The sunsets were simply spectacular. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Just like my kitchen when guests put things away, we searched a bit to d what we needed. It was actually a little amusing and we ended up finding everything....well stocked kitchen. Would recommend kitchen towels and aprons. As we had stopped by Costco and the grocery store on our way to the house, we had more than enough food for the week. The bedrooms were lovely...all with a balcony facing the ocean. Beds were super comfortable. Plenty of towels. Jacuzzi was a little difficult to get up to temp. We did a lot of driving around the island, went to the King Kamehameha Hotel- very nice. Huggos was a treat for lunch! Loved it. Don the Beachcomber for afternoon drinks and evening snacks. Kona Brewery, Quinns and Splashers great for a small pub crawl. Kona Inn has the best calimari!! Loved downtown. Markets were great and full of nice gift buying items. We would stay at Hale Honu in a heartbeat!!! Wish we could have stayed longer.
