Truly a once in a lifetime experience. The home itself was a real "retreat," sitting on 1/2 acre with everything you could possibly ask for in a vacation home - a beautiful pool, views, a sand volleyball court, fruit trees galore and complete privacy. We stayed in the home for 5 weeks, so we got an opportunity to settle in and experience both the home and the island in its entirety. We had 4 kids in tow, so it was important to find a house that was kid-friendly. Nakukui Ekolu was exactly that. Having so much outdoor space was amazing - the kids particularly loved the pool which was *exactly* the right temperature, always. The pool fountains were especially fun for them to splash around in, and for the adults, the sunbathing ledge with lounge chairs was perfect! The kids also loved the sand area - it was like having your own private beach right outside the back door. The convenience of not having to pack & haul beach gear back and forth was a huge perk! The hammock was one of my favorite lounge spots - situated right under a huge palm tree with the perfect amount of sun & shade. We also loved the fire pit - we roasted marshmallows (the house came equipped with plenty of roasting sticks!) and star-gazed multiple nights around the fire. One of the biggest surprises was the amount of fresh fruit right on the property - mangoes, dragonfruit, starfruit, passionfruit, and bananas. It doesn't get much better than picking fresh fruit off the tree for breakfast! The inside of the house was perfectly laid-out. We loved that it was all one-level, and yet felt like two "wings" with the master on one side, and the two guest bedrooms on the other side of the house. The KITCHEN! It honestly had every utensil and appliance you could possibly need - down to a tortilla warmer and Instapot! We were seriously impressed with how well-stocked the kitchen was. The beds were all super comfy with nice linens and plenty of pillows. The living room couch was a fave of ours - super cozy and big enough for our family of 6! The proximity to Kona was great - a quick 10 minute drive to town with countless coffee shops, restaurants, etc.. And the neighborhood itself was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We highly recommend this home for anyone looking to stay in Kona!
