This was our third stay at the Turtle House, and we do not see a need to look anywhere else. Four of us (two couples) had plenty of space to relax and enjoy this great resort area. The unit is clean, bright, and up-to-date. The furnishings are very nice, and the kitchen is fantastic. The appliances all worked well, and the back lanai barbecue was exceptionally good. The beds are in great shape and there is ample storage for clothes and anything else you bring. Having a garage is great for any beach toys, umbrellas, etc. And that upstairs lanai, off the master bedroom -- what a great place to watch the sunset colors toward the north end of the island. There are so many great areas close by. Hapuna Beach State Park is a great place to body or body-board surf. Waimea is a great town in the island interior that has an entirely different climate, less than an hour away. The northern coast up to Hawi is great for whale watching, and Hawi itself is a great place for a day trip. Within the resort itself, the Mauna Lani is very nice. It has its own little shopping center, including a grocery store, which is a huge plus. There are some great restaurants and stores. If you like to golf, the courses here will not disappoint you.
