We had the most fantastic 9 nights in Kona. The apartment was exactly as written and photographed. The view (which was important to us) was perfect. The sound of the ocean each day was incredible. We watched the surfers, crew boaters, swimmers, fishermen, and shell hunters. We even had three beautiful cruise ships come in which was absolutely lovely. Fantastic location - you can't beat it for two people. Perfect.

The view of this place was spectacular! Lanai overlooks the ocean and we spent many peaceful mornings and nights listening to the waves and watching the boogie boarders!
They warned us not to use GPS to find the condo, but we had no issues. Easy walk into downtown for restaurants and shopping. Honl's beach is right next to you, but it is NOT recommended for swimming! Strong undertow and current. Experienced boogie boarders only! TIP: look in the cabinet on the lanai for fins and other snorkel equipment!
Host was great. Gave us an early check in which was appreciated. We also had an issue with the wifi, but they were very responsive and immediately offered to send someone over to fix it.
Other things: A/C works great. Parking is free. Check out the Big Island guidebook in the living room!

If you are expecting a pristine, modern condo, you should quadruple your budget and look elsewhere but if you are looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced place on the water, within walking distance of great restaurants and shopping, this is a top option. It is a few years past update time and I doubt there has ever been a deep cleaning, but again, in this price range, you probably won’t find a better condo. Only real negative is the unusable wifi, but when you’re in paradise, do you really need internet?

We really enjoyed staying at Ocean Front Condo for 7 nights except followings. 1) Sound of leak, a stream of water coming from shower head 2) Heavy smokers who are sitting in the garden facing to the shoer. I am afraid that area is designated for smoking

Kona Reef condos were very good location in the heart of Kailua-Kona. Walking distance to everything. Right next door to the original boogie board beach, so you can watch boarders all day long. We even saw the 20th annual competition while there. We stayed in two units, one on the third floor with a great view, and one ground floor right on the oceanfront. However, the beach is not for swimming. It is a rocky entrance with extreme surf. Great for boarding, not so great for swimming or lounging. The complex is a little worn but serviceable. If you are fan of the Big Island and want to be in the heart of the action, this is a good deal.

We love staying at the Kona Reef (it was our seventh visit) and unit A32 was wonderful. The chaise lounge on the lanai was a welcome surprise as it wasn’t shown in the pictures. Very comfortable and great for an afternoon nap! We appreciated that when we let you know there was only one pool key, you brought a second pool key right away. Two things you could pass on to the owner – the fan in the bathroom doesn’t appear to work and it would be helpful if they added a second night stand beside the bed as currently there is only one. There’s room for it and it’s nice to have both guests able to set their phone, eye glasses, a book etc, on their side of the bed. I kept the ironing board up on my side of the bed to use as a ‘table’, but obviously that’s not ideal. We are already looking forward to returning to the Kona Reef, hopefully in 2026. It’s our favorite holiday destination!
