We are frequent travelers to Hawaii and use VRBO exclusively to book vacation rentals. The IO way home is by far the nicest home we have stayed in. Previously, we stayed in a home in an exclusive gated community near the beach, but the heat the day made the home uncomfortably hot, the neighbors were close and loud and the view was non existent. This home is located in a quiet neighborhood just a five minute drive from all the cool shops and restaurants on Alii Drive. Since it is up on a hill, the elevation and breeze keeps the home comfortable. Even though the clouds rolled in in the afternoons, we had clear blue sky every morning and spectacular sunsets every evening. The house itself was amazing. As soon as you walk through the entryway, you see the amazing pool and view of the ocean from the giant pocketing doors that lead to the lanai. The home is decorated beautifully with the comfort of the guests in mind. All the master bedrooms had a private bathroom, LCD TVs and really comfortable beds. The living room and main master bedroom also had DVD players. For entertainment there was a cool shuffleboard table, huge DVD collection and board games. Mostly though, we enjoyed hanging out by the pool and watching TV from the outdoor bbq / bar area. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook. What we appreciated most was that the house was stocked with shampoo, body wash, conditioner, laundry detergent, toilet paper, etc. We didn't have to purchase any of these items. This is definitely the place to stay when you want a relaxing, quiet and luxurious vacation on the Big Island. We are already planning our return trip and wont stay anywhere else but at the IO Way house.

We had only 5 in our group but with the extra bedroom you can easily and comforatabley have a group of eight or more. We will stay again as soon as we can clear our schedules and they have the dates available.

We want to go back and stay at the same place. Very excellent style in this home. It must be new because everything was spotless!. We thought we were the only people to ever rent it. There were no signs, no smells, no stains, no trace of any previous users of the property. We really liked that aspect of it.

This was our first trip to the big island and I think this had to be one of the nicest places we could have possibly stayed. The proximity of the house to stores and shops in Kailua-Kona was great, but you’re also just far enough up the hill away from town, that you really feel removed from the sounds of traffic and people, which we loved. There are lots of lush plants around the house and on your way up the small highway to the house so you immediately get the feeling of being in a tropical paradise. As soon as you park inside the private gated entry, you step out and notice the beautiful custom Koi pond as you walk to the front door. Then once you step inside, the vaulted ceilings of the living room and the fully opening bay of windows out to the lanai take your breath away…seriously. It’s kind of an unreal space. The view out from the lanai across the infiniti edge swimming pool is incredible. We spent almost every evening of our 2 weeks sitting on the lanai with a drink enjoying the sunsets over the town of Kona below. I don’t really have any complaints. The house is beautiful and the amenities were all perfect. All the bedrooms/bathrooms were clean, fully stocked, and thoughtfully decorated. It’s truly a luxurious home. The kitchen has an amazing gas range and a nice open plan with a pass through window out to the pool area and a view of the ocean. As far as activities go, the house had chairs, boogie boards and a cooler outside that we took with us to the beach. There was a hutch inside the living room area stocked full of board/card games which was fun to have. All in all we had a beautiful experience staying at this home and hope to return as soon as possible. This is definitely the way to stay on the island and I would recommend this home to anyone travelling to the big island. You won’t get a nicer home in the area.
