Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: a very accurate listing from the pictures, to the seclusion to the early morning choir of chickens and roosters. If you are a light sleeper take ear plugs. Very nice house but located at around 1500 ft so it is cooler in the evenings and morning. If you are looking for beach and hot sunny deck this is not it. Definitely need a vehicle but if you want to see anything you would no matter where you stayed. Surprised that the island does not adopt a more user friendly recycling program even for just cans and bottles.

We had a lovely stay here at the Orchid Inn - absolutely blissful. We love the location and how cool it is compared to sea-level. The nearby town is adorable, and town/beaches are never too far away. We recommend you have socks and long pants for the lovely, brisk mornings and evenings. We got used to and grew quite fond of the rooster crows each morning, but you may opt for earplugs.

We had a wonderful time on the Big Island. The Orchid Inn made our stay especially relaxing as it provided everything we needed for two kids, two parents, and two grandparents.

The yard was a great bonus, full of flowers and fruit, as well as the vocal chickens.

Location, location, location... The Orchid Inn was more than that, though. First, we liked being above it all. We had great views to the western setting sun over the ocean from the screened lanai but it also provided us with privacy and seclusion. The Orchid Inn provided that seclusion along with beautiful grounds and home to match. Spotlessly clean and comfortable with screens on most doors and windows. We have nothing but good things to say about it. A very short walk to a cafe and coffee shop. It was not an unreasonable distance for us to drive to Volcanoes NP or other areas of the island. Five stars!
