We had breakfast, lunch and dinners on the balcony, and watched surfers from morning to dusk. Slept with doors open and could hear the crashing waves...soothing. Condo location is perfect walking distance to Kona downtown and farmers' market where we bought mangoes and papayas each day. Stan and Glenna, thanks for sharing your hideaway. This was our first vacation together and it was memorable. Went to Lava Lava and Huggo's for dinners...both are excellent places.

Overall, we enjoyed the stay. The location is perfect - there is road along the water in this area, so a lot of the places offer ocean view, but in this unit it's a true water front location - you're within probably a hundred feet from the waves - that's amazing! The location is very private and quiet and it takes only about 3 minutes walk to get to a busy street with the shops and restaurants. A lot of other positives. The unit is very clean. Plenty of parking. Good Wi-Fi. Functional appliances. Great sleep quality. So why would it be not for everyone? The unit is neat, but dated. The popcorn on the ceiling, older appliances - not really modern or romantic. There is no good beach nearby. There is a super nice bed for 2, but the sleeping on that sofa would be a totally different league. We ran into a couple issues with getting the access code and fixing some minor problems - but those are one offs. As other reviewers pointed out, there are some annoying details like only one roll of toilet paper or some strange rules about how many towels you can leave unwashed and how many you have to wash. Actually there is a thick binder with the house rules - I didn't even have time to finish reading them all. Overall, the place feels more like a well run retirement community - it's comfortable, clean, well located, but if you're looking for something modern, romantic, good for kids, water activities - you might think twice.

This one looks directly out on crashing waves and a very easy, short walk to Kona. The overall location is also good, not too far to lots of things. No nice sandy beach in front, a little bit at the end. Magic Sands is a short drive away. Property needs updating, but the price is reasonable. Buildings A and D have oceanfront balconies. Other buildings are angled side views. The property has A/C which is really nice in the afternoon and evenings. New washer/dryer.
