Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved everything about this property. The house itself is beautiful and so was all the furniture, built-ins, and pool area. Our only problems were small--one of the appliances didn't work, and while trying to make it work, we discovered that some of the kitchen outlets aren't functioning. Also, the speed of the internet depends on where you choose to sit. Best reception is the office, which is small, dark, and uninviting. I think the owners need to know about the wiring and the internet access.

Villa Kai was Paradise in Paradise. The openness of the lanai and living area is what made our entire experience such a pleasure. The swimming pool and hot tub were a perfect touch. Our only issue were the 2 small bedrooms with one shared bath. They were extremely small and crowded. The other two bedrooms were large and open and well appointed. We were told that housekeeping threw away all food stuff at the end of each stay, so we packed salt and pepper and bought olive oil and some other staples on our way to the property from the airport. When we got there, all that was there. I would recommend seeing the property before shopping. If sharp knives are a thing you enjoy, bring your own. We cooked in each night and had dinner on the lanai, so special and magical. The bar-b-cue worked perfectly. Sunsets are indeed magical. The view is enough to bring anyone back. The ocean smell and the softness of the air in April is very soothing and makes for a delightful stay. Location is central to shopping, downtown and anything one could want. Someone went to Starbucks each morning for a treat and were back in 15-20 minutes. Walking to town would be a hike, but, you are not that far away. The manager was more than helpful and both were available at a phone call if needed. You cannot walk right down to the water from the property. Lava is everywhere. You do need water shoes or flip flops to walk along the path (which is a wall) to go to the small beach up the way. About a 5 minute walk. Very small beach. Other beaches you will need to drive to. Not a problem. I would recommend this property to a friend or relative. We really did not want to leave. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Lovely! Can not wait to go back!

The house was spotless as was the patio area and the grounds are very well maintained. The location is great...convenient to town, walking distance to the baby beach and the ocean is at your back door. We hosted our family reunion dinner one night with 28 of us and we had plenty of room for everyone to sit and talk and enjoy the priceless time together. The kitchen is large and well stocked, the living area is very open and large and the separate bedrooms are all good sized. It gave our group a perfect mix of alone time and together time. It is also a one-story home which was a huge plus. Fabulous sunsets every evening from your lanai. Would not hesitate to recommend this home. My only "con" is that there are a few maintenance items that need to be fixed (toaster has no handles, washing machine smells mildewy and many tiles missing in spa). Just a few slight imperfections to an absolutely beautiful home that helped give us a perfect vacation. Can't wait to come back again!!

We loved how the main house had a master suite and the other part of the house had the additional 3 bedrooms. It was perfect for teenagers. We loved opening up the entire front of the house and sitting poolside everyday! We sat for hours and watched the surf. The house had everything that we needed. Loved it!!

When we got there, all that was there. There were 2 boogie boards there after we bought 2. We left 2 blow-up swim floaties. Check the garage for other items. There is plenty of room for everyone, and has everything you need to be comfortable and make yourself at home. The location is great too, secure, walking distance to kid friendly beaches and close to shops and amenities. The pool and BBQ was well used during our stay. I couldn't recommend this property to people to stay at while at Big Island.
